Prince Rupert, Grenville Channel

Two relaxing nights in P.R. to prepare Konami for a week of daily anchorage hopping. PR is a very old city, rich with museums. Wonderful people and the PrR Yacht club staff were very helpful.
We departed at daybreak in very dense fog, giant logs-some nearly 100 feet long all zig zagged before us, tree stumps, kelp mats, branches and not sure what else. I took bow watch as John hand steered us through visibility of less than 50 feet. Three hours of intense traversing in cold “F” (fog/log)conditions was unpleasant!
We entered Gren. Chan about noon in clear sunny conditions. Grenville is about 46 miles, nearly 1 1/2 half miles across with currents attaining 2.5 knots about half way through this time of year. The scenery is so amazing. Very attractive- steep mountain sides, glacier carved valleys, stair stepped rushing waterfalls, and steep-to shorelines, and whales too. From PR to the end of Grenville channel was too far a distance to complete before dark. We stopped half way in a beautiful remote anchorage in East inlet. The trees met the waterline, there were no beaches to comb, even if we wanted to.
We departed at first light to continue through Grenville into a nice anchorage but the weather forecast changed with 20-30 knots NE wind expected. We were fairly protected but the wind blowing through the rigging kept us awake. How many more days of anchorage hopping? We’re in boat delivery mode now, determined to get back to Oregon.

What a grand tour of Alaska and B.C! Alas, mid-September; time to be getting on down the coast.
Our three year anniversary of leaving Astoria is 19 September. I was anxious then to get south fast. We continue to be impressed by your pluck and accomplishments.
